The Anglican Church has five key aims that can be summarised as: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure. Treasure is expanded to: strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth. At the Cathedral we live this out through our gardens and the recycling point that we provide for the community. There is plenty of biodiversity and homes are provided for birds and bugs. We have achieved the Eco Church Silver Award which requires us to consider what we are preaching and teaching, how we manage our land and buildings, how we engage with both our local and global communities, and our lifestyles. We are working towards being carbon neutral by 2030.

Just as plants and soil absorb and lock away carbon on land (so-called ‘Green Carbon’), plants and animals in the sea do the same.
